What they did
With zero prior coding experience, a supplement brand owner built an automated competitor price monitor in one afternoon using Claude Code, Playwright and a cron job. It covers 15 products across 3 brands and runs every morning at 10am with automatic notifications.
How it went
He reports the 'First run caught a $5 price gap I didn't know existed.'
We only report what the source says. Results are self-reported unless noted.
Worth knowing
Amazon's Conditions of Use restrict automated agents. Check the terms and consider official APIs before scraping.
Copy-paste prompt
Build me a small script with Playwright that, for each ASIN in prices.csv, opens the Amazon product page, reads the current buy-box price, and compares it with the previous run. Save results to a CSV. If any competitor's price changes by more than $1 or 5%, send me an email/Slack message with the ASIN, old price, new price. Set it up to run daily at 10am with cron. Explain each step; I've never coded.
The source didn't publish its exact prompt. We wrote this starter so you can try the same workflow. Replace anything in [brackets].
